Tides

This is a prototpe project for the MEAE program at the University of Utah. Our assignment was to modify and iterate upon an existing arcade game, so we chose the 1976 Taito arcade game Attack.

Tides is an endless fixed arcade shooter where the tides are shifting the players position depending on the time of day. Manage your ammo while fighting enemies in both the sky and ocean and try to stay alive for as long as possible. 

Controls: 
A and D to move
Left and Right arrow keys to aim
Space to shoot 

Core Mechanics:

Shooting enemy projectiles rewards the player with 1 point.
Shooting the Plane, Merman and Drone rewards the player with 2 points.
The UFO is worth 3 points and takes 3 hits to destroy. 
Kracken tentacles are worth 5 points and take 5 hits to destroy.

Enemies that fall from the sky can kill enemies in the water, enemies destroyed in this way reward the player with double points. 

Every 50 points the player is rewarded with an extra life.

The player has a ammo cappacity of 15 and the player regenerates 1 bullet per second.
